modesty for the sake of men

oh dear, my friends, it seems focus on the family's young women's magazine is just full of advice to make sure no one knows you've developed breasts until your wedding night.

Please, do read it here. The article goes into how lifting up your arms in praise at church (or one of those rockin' christian rock shows!) can tempt the men around you to take their penis's attention off of jesus (sounds like a good porno to me!).

it then goes to talk about how having a tight shirt on in youth group might distract a boy from god and the bible for one whole night!!! more likely, it might cause him to pop an embarassing chubby in front of everyone while reading about soddom and gomorrah, and we all know that means he's really a flaming homo (well, except for the fact no one actually believes that those dudes who are so into jesus are actually straight). i mean, look at the Promise Keepers shit. Huge meetings of all men for whole weekends; the perfect reason to get out of the house and get some hot man-on-man action.

i was going to say more catty things, but i got tired...from laughing so hard at that stupid bullshit. Operation: Huge Gay Porn to commence soon.

Of course, the real issue here is that the Christian right likes to claim women have all the agency in world the tempt men into behaving badly, so that when they are raped/abused it's easy for the church/men/courts to participate in vicitm blaming on behalf of the abuser ("she was wearing a tight shirt in youth group! and i couldn't help myself!"). I hate shit like this. It's time for men to acknowledge that they are in control of their actions and it is not the responsibility for women to act as non-existant and modest as possible around you. Wearing baggy shirts a'int gonna stop rape, but men calling that shit out and being responsible human beings will. So fuck you focus on the family and your campaign to rob women of all autonomy over their bodies. grrr.

I love the quotes from the Bible that they added at the end.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (Colossians 3:12).

“Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature” (Romans 13:14).

“Clothe yourselves with humility towards one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble’ ” (1 Peter 5:5).

They are not talking about clothing! Fucking dumbass christians... They also forgot that dressing sexy promotes evolution.
